History: ToolClip

Preview of version: 13

Conceived by Spencer Frazier and manufactured in Seki Japan, the ToolClip S23 was the very first multitool that wore the SOG brand name. Second was the Micro ToolClip, which was basically a scaled down version. Interesting to note that no solid handle style multitools have been produced by SOG since.

Jaws

ToolClip jaws are a massive affair featuring a blunt nose, large serrated gripping section, and huge bypass wire cutters. Being a solid handle design, the moveable jaw is integral with the plier handle.(No hard wire notch is included)

Handle

The solid plier handle has a beveled tip which is intended to function as a prybar. Like the plier jaws, it has a darkened matte metallic finish.

Frame

The frame consists of two panels of stainless steel sandwiched around the pliers and blades, held in place by a number of rivets. A SOG SPECIALTY KNIVES inc logo is stamped into one panel.

Finish is polished stainless.

Variations

There are essentially two variations of the ToolClip. The first model has the words SOG TOOLCLIP pat. pend stamped onto the pocket clip.

The later model is stamped with the following: SOG TOOLCLIP U.S. PAT.#D 338,386

There are further differences in the blade selection.
